Family members have confirmed Carleton University student Caylynn Kijowski, 20, of Grey Highlands, Ont., is dead after the car she was driving rolled into a ditch and struck several trees near her hometown.
Kijowski was travelling on Grey Road 18 in Meaford, close to Owen Sound, Ont., shortly after 4 a.m. Friday with a male passenger, Steven Rutherford, 20, when she lost control of the vehicle.
She was taken to Grey Bruce Highlands Services Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Rutherford was taken to Owen Sound hospital for serious injuries and was later released.
Kijowski was studying criminology and criminal justice at Carleton and had come home several days before to celebrate the holidays.
